This year I have seen Matariki more like a symbol of provision. The rising of Matariki was used to give insight into the following year's harvest and abundance, the provision of kai. For us, it has been a symbol of provision with new friends, new employment opportunities and financial increase. But also, a new home, first house we have ever bought. So Matariki is more than just remembering, it is also a great moment of thanksgiving, the best way to enter into the Māori new year!
